Cost Efficiency of the Plant

  The main advantage of Electron Beam Treatment plants is complete waste disposal. The treatment products are radiation-safe, dry, may be used as efficient fertilizers , and have a sufficiently ample market. 1.5 tons of fertilizer is obtained per ton of removed oxides.

  The yield of fertilizers is approximately 40-60 tons/day from a 125 MW coal-burning powerplant.

  Table 1 presents capital construction costs for an EBT plant using (standard) equipment by other companies, and for our version of an electron beam treatment installation, given the flue gas discharge rate of 380,000 m3/hour. (The exhaust is equivalent to the exhaust of a 125 MW coal-burning boiler).

  According to the above data, our solution enables a considerable (up to 9 times) reduction of physical equipment costs, and a 3.4-times reduction of construction/assembly structurals.

  Estimated annual operating costs for a standard solution and for the offered solution are presented in Table 2.

  The operating costs cutting is achieved by using more efficient physics equipment (1.6 times) and by a lower cost of installation (1.9 times).

  By way of comparison:

the capital costs of installation of a chemical treatment plant, for the same conditions, will be about $ 30,000,000;


operating costs: about $ 5,000,000/year.

 Therefore, our offered version of an Electon Beam Treatment plant is more economical both in capital costs and in operating costs.
